Felix Baumgartner became the first human being to travel faster than the speed of sound without a craft

Austrian Felix Baumgartner became the first human being to travel faster than the speed of sound without a craft, he fell to Earth from 36km up. He reached a speed of Mach 1.24 or 833.9 mph. This is the new record the highest human fell to Earth. The purpose of the mission is to collect data to support the next generation of space suits development, including the expansion of scientific knowledge about the altitude and supersonic speed effects on the human body.
